WELCOME

The Agave Quilters Guild encourages members to learn new techniques, to share ideas, to enter quilt shows, and to develop lasting friendships.  We also endeavor to promote goodwill within the community.

Our general monthly meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. in the Oakwood Country Club’s Kingston Ballroom, except during the months of June, July and August.  Monthly meetings feature a business meeting, a program, and a “Show & Tell” time when members display and talk about their finished projects.

During the year we also have special events such as quilt shows, open houses, and trips to other quilt shows.  Members enjoy socializing together at two luncheons each year—one in April and one in December.  In addition, the guild holds “sew days” and classes in the Oakwood Sewing Room at the Arts & Crafts Center.

Our monthly schedule usually consists of community service projects on the first Tuesday.  Handwork groups meet on the other Tuesday mornings.  The second Thursday morning and all day on the third Thursday are set aside for Quilters to work on either hand or machine projects.  Various special classes are scheduled on the second Monday and the fourth and fifth Thursdays.  Sign up for classes at the monthly guild meetings.  These classes and “sew days” provide members with hands-on opportunities to learn new skills and techniques, and a chance to get better acquainted with other guild members.  Many of the ‘sew days” continue throughout the entire year.

Within the general membership there are several smaller “Friendship Groups.”  These groups generally meet in individual homes or the sewing room at an agreed time to enjoy a shared interest, such as appliqué or hand quilting.  If you are interested in a small group, please talk to the Friendship Committee members.  Perhaps you will find your special niche.  It is a wonderful way to meet your fellow guild members.
