WELCOME The Agave Quilters Guild of Sun Lakes, Arizona, encourages members to share their love of quilting in offering new techniques and ideas, while gaining lasting friendships. Our general meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month (with the exception of June, July and August) at 1:30 pm in the Oakwood Ballroom. These meetings feature a brief business meeting, usually a speaker/program as well as "Show and Tell" for members' work. The Agave Board meetings, held at the Sun Lakes Health Center, take place in the morning of the first Wednesday.
During the year the guild enjoys special events
such as a festive Christmas Luncheon in December, a Tea in February, a
Pot Luck Luncheon in March and a Guild Quilt Show in April. During the
year, there are many "Sew Days" and various classes held in the Sewing
Room at the Oakwood Arts & Crafts Center.
Our monthly schedule for the Sewing Room includes community service projects held on the first Tuesday mornings with handwork groups on the remaining Tuesday mornings, both open to all members. Machine or handwork gatherings are held on the third Thursday. Instructional classes are held on first Monday mornings, with full day classes on second Mondays, fourth and fifth Thursdays. There are also UFO groups meeting on Friday evenings to share potluck, and sewing of your choice. Within the general membership, there are smaller "Friendship Groups". These groups meet in individual homes or in the sewing room to enjoy shared interests, such as appliqué or hand quilting or even just lunch and shopping! If a small group interests you, please talk to the Friendship Committee. It is a wonderful way to meet your fellow guild members. |
